Can You Be On Hospice For More Than 6 Months?
Can someone really predict when you are going to die? Well, the answer is no. It is not possible to accurately predict when someone’s going to die, even if the person is living with a terminal illness.
Hospice care is often suggested to those people who are in the last few months of their life. It is provided to prevent and relieve symptoms while improving the quality of a patient’s life.
However…
Hospice does not necessarily mean that you only have 6 months to live. If you are receiving hospice care and live longer than 6 months, you will be reevaluated to see if you still comply with the hospice eligibility. So you can receive hospice care as long as you meet the Medicare requirements.
Who Qualifies For Hospice?
A patient may qualify for hospice if:
- He is living with a terminal illness
- He is in the last stage of life
- The doctors believe the patient has less than 6 months to live
