Hospice care addresses symptoms of a disease while paying special attention to controlling the pain and discomfort the patient may be experiencing. Hospice care is also focused on providing support to the family members as well.
Hospice care should never be seen as something that hastens death. The difference between curative care and hospice care is that the focus during hospice care is no longer on curing the patient rather it is on making the patient feel comfortable.
Also, if you qualify for hospice care, it doesn’t mean that you are definitely going to die within the next 6 months. Rather, it means that you will be reevaluated every 6 months to see if you are still eligible to use hospice care!
